'Workings of the Inner Mind' by Rhearna Mirga, Year 8, Open Access College, taught by Cheryl Eden and Peter Gaetjens.

"I wanted to do a representation of a man thinking and coming up with
an idea. The light bulb represents the idea, and the cogs represent
the 'The Workings of the inner mind'.
The sad face changes to a happy face when he gets an idea and then
works out that idea.
The picture shows clearly how the idea itself is different to the
working out of the idea and its implications. If we just have an idea,
and do not work it out (like thinking about it) then the idea will go
nowhere. Albert Einstein once famously said that 'Ideas are one
percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration'.
I got the original face and the light bulb from the internet, as cited
in the source page, and the original cogs from Microsoft Word. The
frames for the animation were all made in Microsoft paint and saved as
GIFs. Then using the program UnFREEz (a small gif animation program) I
put the frames together in a continuous picture.
I feel my picture clearly shows the process of thinking, and of the
difference between the idea (the inspiration) and the working out of
the idea (the perspiration)."
Rhearna is the overall winner of this competition.
She has won $50 for herself and a one year CEGSA organisational membership
for her school. Open Access College are also now the proud owners of a
SiPix StyleCam digital camera plus a SiPix Pocket Color 200 portable photo
printer - supplied by MicroBits.
